Review of Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Resort

Reef

One of my most favorite vacation spot is Jamaica! With the beautiful water, friendly locals and variety of tourism options; it a guaranteed good time. I was so happy to spend a week in Montego Bay in June with my friends and family. Like always, we had an absolute amazing time together.

Here's a little review of our experience:

Pros:

  • The people!! The staff at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Resort were extremely hospitable and accommodating. Exactly how you would expect to be treated in your home away from home.

  • The beautiful beach and the calm waters. We had a little bit of seaweed surfacing while we were there.

  • Vendors on kayaks was an experience. It was nice that they were only there from 10 am to 4 pm. Not only can you shop with convenience but it will not take up all your day or your view.

  • Entertainment: there was a different show every night at the theater. The show began at 9:30 pm.

  • Air conditioning!! The air conditioning in the rooms, theater and restaurants worked well!

Cons:

  • Miscommunication: It was to our understanding what we were allowed to visit the neighboring sister Iberostar Resorts. Unfortunately, the spa and the disco place was the only thing we were allowed to use there. Bummer.

  • The vendor night was not big as other resorts we've visited.

  • There wasn't a whole lot of options at the pool bar.

Restaurants:

  • The ice cream shop opens days and evenings. Along with sundaes, milkshakes, cone or cup ice cream; they offer coffee macaroon and cookies.

  • The Japanese restaurant had hibachi tables where the chef prepare the food in front of you and your guests. Expect to spend about 2 hours here and try to book an early dinner time. The food was good but the drinks took long time.

  • The Cajun restaurant was my favorite place. I went twice!

  • The steak house restaurant was my least favorite.

  • The buffet restaurant's best meal was breakfast. Dinner was good with a variety of foods.

  • Uncle Tony’s was a great place for lunch and soft serve ice cream :)

Spa:

I did not personally experience the spa but according to my sister-in-law it was a relaxing time and she enjoyed the wet area! The wet area included a Jacuzzi, steam room, a roman bath, as well as a cold tub.

Excursion :

I always recommend doing at least one excursion on any trip; it really allows you a different experience. We took the family friendly Catamaran Snorkel through the Dressel Divers Montego Bay Dive Center (located on the beach at the end of the Resort). Dressel went above and beyond our expectations of the excursion.

The excursion was about 45 minutes of snorkeling with the opportunity to enjoy the white sand bar. The water is waist deep. There's enough time to enjoy a few drinks in the water before boarding. On our cruise back to the prier, the atmosphere was fun yet relaxing with music, drinks and dancing. We had a great time on this excursion!
